Ryan Johnson - Drill Writer/Visual Instructor (Fall 2007 - present)

Ryan was born in Mesa and quickly moved to Gilbert as a young child where he has been ever since. He began playing music in the fifth grade on trumpet. Ryan graduated from Gilbert High School in 2006 where he played trumpet for the jazz band and euphonium for the concert and marching bands. Ryan began playing euphonium in his freshman year. During his freshman summer in 2003, Ryan participated in the Arizona Academy Brass and Percussion Ensemble which quickly evolved into the Drum and Bugle Corps in which he has been apart of for five years now. Ryan began teaching high school marching band the fall of 2006 and is currently writing the drill for the Bear Regiment.

Clayton Nelson - Visual Instructor (Fall 2010 - present)

Clayton was born in Arcadia, California and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona when he was two months old. He began his band career in fourth grade on the trumpet and progressed to the baritone in sixth and began playing the tuba his freshman year of high school. He attended Saguaro High School in Scottsdale and participated in marching band, concert band, jazz band, concert choir, jazz choir, and men's choir. In his senior year he auditioned and made the Arizona Academy Drum and Bugle Corps. Clayton marched from 2006-2009 playing the contra/tuba. He was the section leader of the tubas in 2008 and 2009. He aged out last year and is attending ASU full time. He is excited to be teaching and looks forward to a great year with the Bear Regiment!
